Facilitating Touch Drawing
Read more about facilitating here.
Touch Drawing is so simple. Roll some paint onto a smooth surface, place a piece of paper on top, move your hands on the page and lift it off to see the completed drawing... How much can it take to teach? If this was all there was, it would be just a technique listed in a craft book. But Touch Drawing is also an interior process; a state of openness to the Self that can take one through emotional transformation and deeper; into communion with the archetypal realm and the presence of the sacred. In a workshop, the consciousness of the presenter influences the depth to which people may go. The ability to help people feel safe, to hold a sacred space and to support authentic communication make a huge difference in the atmosphere. On the other end of the spectrum, having the correct materials in the right quantities can make or break the experience. For example, how much paper do you need so everyone can do as many drawings as they wish? If you ran out of paper, each person's process would be cut short.
If you want to share Touch Drawing with others, first establish and deepen your own relationship with the process. You might invite one or two friends to join you in drawing regularly. Before you give a workshop, spend time integrating the materials in The Touch Drawing Facilitator Workbook. It harvests information and insight from my many years of facilitating. You will also find the wisdom of experienced facilitators who offer their own ideas. It is an essential resource for both the spirit and technique of Touch Drawing. It is also empowering to attend The Annual Touch Drawing Gathering; an immersion in the spirit of Touch Drawing and the community of practitioners. It is a the deepest experience I offer each year, and provides a base upon which you can continue to develop your own unique applications. The other resource for we offer is the Touch Drawing Online Community. We have a discussion forum for Facilitators where you can ask for help and ideas if issues come up, and offer your own insights. I am accessible and active there. You will also find special interest groups where you have discussions on specific applications of Touch Drawing.
When you share Touch Drawing with others, please acknowledge the source and give participants the website. And let us know what you are doing! How are you integrating Touch Drawing with other processes? What settings are you presenting it in? Reports of both your personal experiences and ways of facilitating will inspire and educate others on the potential of this simple yet profound process. We invite you to join us as you plant the seeds of Touch Drawing in your own unique garden of life! Read more about facilitating here.
